Product Details

The wonderful Sussex trug. Both my maternal and paternal village here in Sussex were, in my childhood both had active truggeries. Sadly the East Hoathly Steam Works ceased to exist in the early 80's. Now only The Truggery exists out of the two makers at Herstmonceux from my childhood.

The beautiful trug is made by steam forming a sweet chestnut frame with willow 'lathes' acting as the baskets body. My great friend Charlie Grove is one of the finest exponents of this wonderful craft. If you're thinking of buying the engraving as a gift, double it up and give a real trug too. These two bastions of this Sussex craft need all the support we can give them in this souless age.

As with all my engravings the prints are individually printed on hand made paper - this one in an edition of 200. the print measure 65mm x 45mm.

UK Post and packaging is included in the price
